Errors on your printer

Paper out error

If the message "Paper Out" is displayed on the printer, the paperroll is empty or the butterfly badges are not loaded into the printer anymore. In the video below we will show you how to change the paper roll and how to load new butterfly badges into your printer.

Paper Jam error

Small imperfections on the paper may occur which can lead to the printerhead getting stuck on the paper. If that happens the printer will display a "Paper Jam error". Tear off the imperfect paper to fix the error.

Another cause for this error is if the paper is not loaded completely straight (either the roll inside or the butterfly badges behind the printer).

Ink low / Ink out

The error "Ink Low" means that cartridge of a certain colour is almost empty. On the display you can see which colour(s) that is/are, there will be a exclamation point next to the colour(s) in question. Note: the cartridge is not yet empty! You can still print dozens of badges. Do not change the ink immediately after the exclamation point is shown on the display. That way we can reduce unnecessary waste of expensive materials. As soon as the error message changes to "Ink Out" the cartridge is completely empty and has to be replaced immediately. In the video below you can see how to do that.

Maintenance Box (near) full

If this error is shown the maintenance box is (nearly) full and has to be replaced. This box collects all inkremains that stay in the printer. You can find the maintenance box behind the flap on the front left side of the printer.

Head Maintenance

The printer cleans itself. Inkremains will be cleaned into the maintenance box. The printer will automatically do this when it determines that it is necessary. While cleaning the display will read "Head Maintenance". During this process no badges can be printed. If a participant is checked in during this time you will have to wait and the badge will automatically be printed as soon as the cleaning is done. You don't have to check in a participant multiple times if the badge is not printed immediately!

You can also force a head maintenance cleaning by holding the button "Cleaning" for three seconds. This can be done i.e. when the colours are not printed as they should or if there are stripes on the badge.

Error 7B/7C

The printers are sensitive for very low or high temperatures. If errorcode 7B is displayed the printer is too cold to use. You can prevent this by not leaving the printers in a cold car for too long i.e. If this error occurs you can open the roll cover and the ink cover. Take out the ink, shake it and leave it outside of the printer. By opening up the printer as much as possible it can warm up through the warmer surrounding air. Once the error disappears you can place the cartridges in the printers again, close all the covers and use the printer again.

If the printer displays the errorcode 7C the printer is too hot. This may be caused by placing the printers in direct sunlight. Place the printer in a shadowy place and wait for the code to disappear.
